As the weather keeps getting colder and colder, it’s a good idea to start preparing your home for the winter.  Below are a few steps that you can take:

• Have your furnace inspected and have filters on hand to last you through the next few months.
• Make sure your fireplace is ready by cleaning the chimney and making sure everything is working properly.
• Prevent plumbing freezes by making sure all your hoses are empty and checking all exposed pipes.
• Prune any landscaping to prevent winter injury to the plants and your house or electrical wiring.
• Prepare an emergency kit in case there is a weather event that causes the power to go out.
• Clean your gutters so that water does not freeze and create a blockage.

If you follow these steps, you and your home should be well prepared for whatever this winter throws at us!
